When it's time to let go

There comes a point in your life when you reach your breaking point. The weight of your troubles is suddenly too much to carry any longer. Something deep within you snaps from all of the pressure. You begin to realize that in order to make progress, to move forward, you must let go.

Your entire world has been revolving around this one thing. One simple thing that seems to have a death grip on your heart. It is something that takes every ounce of joy out of you. And it’s something that no matter how hard you have tried, you just cannot seem to get over it. But you are exhausted.

Maybe you have been carrying around guilt or shame. You cannot seem to forgive yourself for that one mistake you made. Or maybe you have been hurt by someone you love. The pain of their betrayal has been weighing you down for far too long. Regardless of the situation, your soul has reached its breaking point.

With a weary heart and broken soul, you lay it all down. Because when we cannot carry our burdens any longer, Jesus steps in. He picks up all of our pain, guilt, resentment, shame, and anger, and he carries it on his back in the form of a cross. He did this for you, for me, and for everyone.

It’s crazy how an event thousands and thousands of years ago can impact the lives of so many individuals today. Because anyone and everyone who accepts God’s free gift no longer has to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. So do not spend another day carrying around that shame or that torment. Learn to forgive yourself and forgive others just as Christ would.

I know this is so much easier said than done. It’s definitely not something that you can do on your own. But God can even when you cannot. You can find strength in Christ when your strength is gone. So give to God and let it go.

“You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy.”
